How the 0–10 estimate works
For vehicles: 30% tested speed, 30% utility, 15% versatility, 10% availability, and 15% community rating. Utility, versatility, availability, and community rating are editorial or survey inputs on a 0–10 scale and require supporting evidence.
Speed is normalized to the fastest tested vehicle in the same class. The weighted total is multiplied by the square root of (class median price ÷ vehicle price), clamped to 0–10, and rounded to one decimal place.
When no score is better
No score is calculated without all required inputs and at least three priced, speed-tested peers in the same class. A zero price does not generate an infinite score. Scores do not currently incorporate resale, armor, earnings, or upgrade costs; these remain separate decision attributes.
Weights can evolve
The formula is versioned in code. Future revisions may add category-specific models. Scores are estimates reflecting stated priorities, not objective quality. Sponsorship never changes the formula or a ranking position.
